New Cities Summit 2015 – Seizing The Urban Moment
Start date: June 9, 2015
End date: June 11, 2015
The New Cities Summit 2015 will be held on June 9-11, 2015, in Jakarta, Indonesia. The theme is “Seizing the Urban Moment: Cities at the Heart of Growth and Development”.
According to the UN, the global urban population has grown rapidly since 1950, from 746 million to 3.9 billion in 2014. The world is experiencing an unprecedented urban moment.
Within this context, the New Cities Foundation hosts the annual New Cities Summit in a different city each year, in order to:
Gather over 800 of the world’s leading decision-makers, mayors, CEOs, entrepreneurs, thinkers, artists and innovators to discuss and promote positive urban change.
Showcase and pool together the best ideas on the future of cities to generate concrete, scalable solutions capable of being adopted and replicated around the world.
The New Cities Foundation is an international non-profit organization with a mission to shape a better urban future by generating and scaling ideas and solutions through events, research and urban innovations. The Foundation works with leaders from business, government, academia, civil society, the media and the arts.
This year, the Summit comes to Asia for the first time, following past Summits in the Americas (Dallas, 2014; Sao Paulo, 2013) and Europe (Paris, 2012).
